With only darkness before him, he finally learns to appreciate the light. As Michael steps through the doors, he finds himself in a new environment. As he stands in the doorway observing what stands in front of him, he get a rough push from behind him. The door closes behind him and the only light that illuminates his surrounding comes from a window high in the wall.

All his life, Michael never shared a room with anybody, other than when he had a woman or two to spend the night with. Now, as he studies his barren surroundings, he realises that he has to share this small little room with two other males.

All his life, Michael had everything he wanted. He has three cars, a bungalow and many other worldly possessions. Now all he wants is a soft, warm bed. But even that has been denied.

As he slumps to the ground in a corner of the small dark room, he breaks down. He regrets partying the nights away, consuming drugs and giving brightly coloured pills out as though they were nothing more than harmless sweets. For now, and for the next five years, all he yearns for is that his family will continue to support him, morally, emotionally and mentally…

Hmmm….a couple of these feel more like closing sentences than opening ones. After everything goes silent in number 6, there’s not a lot for our protagonist to do.
